The company offers professional training and labs-on-demand to the independent scene in Styria.

Professional training: free of charge

Lab (5 hours): 60,- / 50,- for Tanz Graz members

Lab (8 hours): 90,- / 80,- for Tanz Graz members

Lab (15 hours): 160,- / 150,- for Tanz Graz members

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Tanz Graz organizes a weekly TIME-GENERAL PROFESSIONAL TRAINING for all those who (want to) perform on stage.

The aim is to provide a space for professional and semi-professional dancers and artists from other genres to train together to maintain and deepen their skills. All dance and performance creators are welcome.

Every week, someone else from the independent scene leads the training. This creates a lively exchange and the opportunity to get to know each other better. The training is free of charge for participants.

LABS-ON-DEMAND

Labs with national and international artists provide the necessary impetus and deliver inspiration to the scene at a high level. This can involve both contemporary dance technique and performance tools. TANZ GRAZ offers “Labs-on-Demand”. Individual artists or companies can propose a lab on a topic relevant to them or with a teacher who inspires them, which will then be organized by TANZ GRAZ (6 to 15 hours). These labs can be requested to accompany a production in development or to strengthen the company/individual artist individually and independently of the production.

LAB: “RELATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC SPACE”

Spring 2024

In this lab, we will research the multiple relationships between ourselves as sensible bodies and the elements that constitute our cities that have become our daily surroundings. The practice will be physical, playful, connected and intuitive, working with basic parameters of choreography and the non-judging open nature of the contemporary clown. We will establish spontaneous momentary relationships with street lights, benches, pigeons, and, of course, with strangers passing by, making them become part of our improvisations and joining them in their performance all the same. And maybe (and very likely), a flimsy floating permeable space that allows surprises to happen will appear and make us question our normal behavior that is so often driven by pragmatics, consumerism and pre-established ideas of what our relationships with people and things should be like.

Alina Stockinger is a performance maker, working in public space in Barcelona, Graz and all over Europe for more than 15 years. She is the founder of the collective Eléctrico 28 and occasionally works on her own with other artists.
